The Maldives Scuba Diving


The Maldives, officially the Republic of Maldives, is an island nation consisting of a group of atolls in the Indian Ocean. The Maldives are located in the Indian Ocean and stretch 900 kilometers from north to south. Out of the incredibly large number of islands only 200 islands are inhabited, with 44 islands adapted as exclusive resort islands. Sun shines all year through with average temperature around 29 - 32 degrees Celsius it is generally very warm and quite humid.

The Water temperature is around 24°C in February and July to 27°C in April, May and September a 5mm shortie suit is recommended. Visibility is about 15 - 40 meters.

The_MaldivesThe types of marine life likely to be spotted during a Maldives Scuba trip are Hammerheads, grey reef sharks, white tip reef sharks, eagle rays, manta rays, turtles, frogfish, triggerfish, surgeonfish, jacks, trevallies, snappers, napoleon wrasse, barracudas plus many many more. The best time to go on a Scuba Diving Holidays in The Maldives is June through to October or December to March. The Maldives has a wet season is between May and August, which reduces visibility and may restrict the number of accessible dive sites. Night dives are very popular as the reefs become highly active, with predators on the prowl. Reefs form channels and lagoons, but don’t expect many wreck dives as these are minimal and not very spectacular.

Costa Rica Scuba Diving

Costa Rica, is a republic in Central America, bordered by Nicaragua to the north, Panama to the east-southeast, the Pacific Ocean to the west and south, and the Caribbean Sea to the east.

Over the last decade Costa Rica Scuba Diving holidays have become extremely popular. Costa Rica boasts a vast variety of marine wildlife.

Costa RicaPopular Costa Rican dive sites include Murcielagos Island and Catalinas Island. Here you can find sharks, mantas, snapper and some tropical species such as the eagle ray and the Cortez angelfish. At the farthest point of Murcielago it is possible to see the great bull shark.

Cocos Island is famous for its whale sharks, mantas and hammerheads that can appear in groups of 500 plus.

A more recently developed dive site is Guanacaste. Along the pacific coast here you can find a huge variety of fish. In the rainy season, May to November, visibility can be poor.

A great place for scuba diving in Costa Rica is the Punta Gorda dive site. Thousands of eagle rays have been spotted swimming in giant columns, also found here are marlin and whale shark.

Scuba Diving in Costa RicaCahuita is where you can find a beautiful 500 meter long coral reef, the reef contains around 35 different species. You can find 2 shipwrecks 7 meters down lying on the reef. February through April is the best time to take a scuba diving trip here when visibility is at its best.

The Caribbean coast has yet to be developed for scuba diving vacations despite the fact it has some great coral reefs.

The water temperature of around 24 to 26°C from May to December and drops to about 21°C in April. A 3mm full wetsuit should be worn from December to April and a 3mm Shorty for the rest of the year.

Cayman Islands Scuba Diving


Coral Reef in The Cayman IslandsThe Cayman Islands are a British overseas territory located in the western Caribbean Sea. The Cayman Islands is a group of 3 islands, Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac, and Little Cayman. It is one of the leading tourist scuba diving destinations in the world.

Grand Cayman – The most developed island out of the Cayman Islands. There are over 250 dive site including shipwrecks, reefs, and a variety of marine life. Shore diving is possible but there are many boat trips available to take you to the best dive sites. Diving with gloves is prohibited to stop divers from touching the marine life. Visibility is on average 30 to 40 meters but can be up to 60 meters. The water temperature is around 26°C in December and 28°C in July and a 3mm wetsuit or Shorty is suitable. The marine life you can expect to see are stingrays, manta rays, eagle rays, turtles, tarpons, angelfish, barrel sponges and gorgonian fans.

The Cayman IslandsThe Sister Cayman Islands of Little Cayman & Cayman Brac are the perfect destination for divers of all ages and experience.

Both of the Cayman sister islands are thin strips of land lying roughly east to west. South-east winds mean divers rarely dive on the south side of these islands. On Little Cayman, Bloody Bay Wall and Jackson Bay are the most popular dive destinations. They are both situated on the north side of the island, but are not accessible year-round because of weather conditions.

Cayman Brac has beautiful sponge-flocked 3,000-foot vertical walls, over 50 dive sites, some just 150 yards off the coast; and a submerged 300-foot frigate. Little Cayman has crystal waters, deep walls, and an infinite number of tunnels, chimneys, and canyons.

Scuba Diving in the Red Sea – Egypt


The Red Sea is an inlet of the Indian Ocean between Africa and Asia.

Occupying a part of the Great Rift Valley, the Red Sea has a surface area of about 438,000 km². There are extensive shallow shelves, noted for their marine life and corals. The sea is the habitat of over 1,000 invertebrate species and 200 Red Sea Divingsoft and hard corals and is the world's most northern tropical sea.

The water temperature is around 20°C in February to 27°C from July to October. The best suit to wear from November to April is the 3mm or 5mm wetsuit, the rest of the year wear a shortie. Visibility is about 20 - 60 meters.

You can go Scuba Diving in The Red Sea any time of year, but if you want really warm water it is best to visit the Red Sea between June and September.

The Red Sea has it all Reefs, walls, wrecks and an abundance of exotic marine life. Some of the marine life you would expect to see on a Scuba diving holiday to Egypt are turtles, blue spotted rays, jacks, snappers, barracudas, lionfish, reef fish, and beautiful colourful coral.

The Red Sea can be dived from both Egypt and Israel but most international scuba divers do so from the Egyptian side. There are two major scuba diving areas in Egypt, Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada. Sharm El Sheikh at the northern part of the Red Sea is the more established center having been a popular holiday resort area as both Egyptians and Europeans have been holidaying there for many years.
